Vol. 127 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that Mr. John Breslin has offered to sell his 430 acre farm at Burt, County Donegal, to the Land Commission and as this farm has been let for the past 30 years if he will state whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring it for division; and, if so, with what result.

Mr. John Breslin has offered to sell his farm at Inch Level, Burt, County Donegal, to the Land Commission, who are having inquiries made to ascertain if the lands are required and are suitable for acquisition for their purposes.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state (a) the number of undivided farms in County Donegal held by the Land Commission, (b) the date on which each farm was acquired and (c) when these farms are to be allocated.

Apart from areas of mountain and turbary and some small plots awaiting rearrangement proposals, the Land Commission have 554 acres on hands on nine estates in County Donegal. Of this area 100 acres were acquired this month and the remainder comprises the unallotted portions of estates which were acquired in former years and have not yet been fully allotted. It is expected that 350 acres of this latter area will be allotted before next April and that the balance of 104 acres will be allotted in the following year. It is too early yet to indicate when it will be possible to allot the 100 acres recently acquired.
