asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (a) the amount spent on construction work on the River Brosna from May, 1948, to October, 1951, and (b) the amount spent in each of the Counties of Offaly, Laoighis, Westmeath during the same period.

The gross expenditure on construction works on the Brosna Catchment Drainage Scheme for the period May, 1948, to 31st October, 1951, was approximately £725,000.
As regards the second part of the question, separate figures for the amount spent in each county are not available, as the accounts for arterial drainage schemes are recorded in relation to entire catchment areas.
