Vol. 128 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Monaghan Estate, County Galway.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when the Land Commission propose to subdivide among eligible allottees the Monaghan estate at Bohercuil, Caherlistrane, County Galway, which has been on the commission's hands for nearly three years; and if, in the meantime, the practice of letting the grazing thereof to farmers already in possession of extensive holdings will be discontinued.

A suitable scheme for the allotment of this estate cannot be prepared pending the outcome of proceedings for the acquisition of adjoining lands. When these proceedings, which have reached an advanced stage, are completed, arrangements will be made for the allotment of all the lands as a unit. Meanwhile, the lands are let in accordance with the usual practice and no complaints have been made as to the lettings.
