Vol. 129 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Air Corps Personnel.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the skilled personnel available in the Air Corps, he will sponsor an arrangement between Aer Lingus, Teoranta, and the Department of Defence whereby such personnel as wish to do so may be recruited for Aer Lingus, Teoranta, when required.

I am informed that, for some time past, an arrangement has existed between Aer Lingus and the Department of Defence whereby suitable personnel from the Army Air Corps are recruited by Aer Lingus at the termination of their engagement with the Air Crops. I am also informed that discussions are proceeding between the Department of Defence and Aer Lingus with the view to the continuance and, if possible, extension of this arrangement.

Can the Minister state that in cases where Army personnel are seconded to Aer Lingus, they are paid the appropriate rates of pay for civilian air pilots?

The question does not apply to pilots only.

To all personnel?

I have no information on that matter.

I shall put down a question.
