Vol. 129 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of Estates.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission have prepared a scheme for the division of the Levinge estate, Neypark, Kiltoon; and, if so, when this scheme is likely to be put into operation.

A scheme for the allotment of this estate has not yet been prepared.

Could the Minister say when he expects that such a scheme will be prepared?

Proposals in respect of portion of the land are in the course of preparation for submission to the commissioners.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring for division the non-residential holding of the late Mr. Joseph Coen, Knockglass, Ballinameen, Boyle (Balfe Estate); and, if so, with what result.

The question of the acquisition of these lands is at present under consideration.

May I point out to the Minister that this is one of the most congested areas in the County Roscommon; that the people in this particular locality actually go four miles to take conacre at £14 per acre; and that the present owners of this farm, as far as I can ascertain, are willing to make a deal with the Land Commission as soon as possible?

The Deputy can be assured that the matter is under active consideration.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission have acquired the lands of the late Mr. Patrick Maher, Ballymore House, situate in the townland of Ballymore, Goold's Cross, County Tipperary; and, if so, when a scheme for the division of these lands will be put into operation.

The proceedings for the acquisition of the lands in question have not yet been completed.
