It is not possible to give from the Department's records figures in respect of new houses in course of erection by or on behalf of private persons. The information available relates only to grants allocated and grants fully paid in respect of new houses under the Housing (Amendment) Acts, 1948 and 1950.
asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the number of houses erected by local authorities both rural and urban and by private persons in the year ending 31st December, 1951.
In the year ended 31st December last, 3,174 houses were completed by rural housing authorities, and 4,094 by urban housing authorities. Particulars of the number of houses built in that year by private persons are not available. The number of cases in which final payments of housing grants were made during the year was 4,967.
