Vol. 129 No. 6

Written Answer. - Appointment of Dental Surgeons.

asked the Taoiseach if he will indicate the number of dental surgeons to be appointed to local authorities in accordance with the advertisement which indicated the closing date to be 5th February, 1952, the method by which successful applicants will be chosen, the number of applications received, the date on which interviews for the applicants will commence and the date on which appointments will be announced.

It is proposed to make nine appointments as a result of the competition referred to by the Deputy.

As stated in the regulations governing the competition, the qualifications of the candidates will be investigated by the Local Appointments Commissioners with the assistance of a board set up for that purpose.

Applications have been received from 58 individual candidates.

When the board to interview the candidates has been constituted, it will be convened at the earliest possible date which will suit the convenience of all the members of the board.

It is not possible, at this stage, to state the date on which the appointments will be announced. It is the practice of the Local Appointments Commissioners, as soon as they are notified that a person has been appointed by a local authority on their recommendation, to issue a notification to that effect to the Press.
