It is anticipated that possession of the lands in question will be obtained at an early date. If the Land Commission are not then in a position to implement a scheme of allotment, the lands will be let.

The estate in question has been acquired by the Land Commission for resale to the persons or bodies mentioned in Section 31, Land Act, 1923, as amended by subsequent legislation. asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission have acquired the Dunn lands at Smithstown, Maynooth; and, if so, whether it is proposed to allot the lands to local uneconomic holders.

The Dunn estate has been acquired and one parcel thereon has been allotted. It would not be practicable nor in the public interest to disclose the intentions of the Land Commission in regard to the balance of the lands.

Would the Minister say whether it is intended to divide these lands amongst local uneconomic holders or whether it is proposed to give them to migrants over the heads of the local congests?

I cannot disclose the intentions of the Land Commission.

Would the Minister bring to the notice of the Land Commission the fact that there are 61 holdings of between five and ten acres within one and a half miles of these lands, as evidenced in his own reply of the 7th November last?

I am informed that there is little or no congestion in the area.

What would you describe 61 holdings of that size then?
