Vol. 129 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Fund Licence.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the annual road fund licence charged in respect of a one-quarter horse power motor-assisted pedal cycle, and whether he has satisfied himself that this figure is not excessive, pro rata per horse power, when compared with the rates charged for motor cycles and motor cars and, further, whether he is aware that the tax charged in Great Britain on these cycles is 17/6 per year; and, if so, whether he will give consideration to the question of providing, in the forthcoming Budget, for a more equitable rate of taxation for these vehicles.

The answer to the first part of the Deputy's question is £3 a year. As to the remainder of the question, I may say that the matter is under consideration.
