Vol. 129 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Arranmore Island Children.

asked the Minister for Education whether he is aware that many of the children on Arranmore Island, County Donegal, become migratory workers in Scotland before they have reached the school-leaving age and as a result fail to get a full national school education; and, if so, what steps he proposes to take to see that these children shall not suffer in the future from the handicap of a neglected education.

I have no information that the position is as represented by the Deputy. The initiation of action under the School Attendance Act is, however, a matter for the local Garda authority.
