asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether the Electricity Supply Board propose to extend rural electrification to the Rear Cross and Kilcommon districts, County Tipperary.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that the Kilcommon rural area which includes the district of Rear Cross has been considered by the board on a number of occasions for development under the rural electrification scheme. It has not yet been selected owing mainly to the low density of population and the hilly nature of the country.
I am further informed that the position will be reviewed at regular intervals by the board, but it is not possible, at this stage, to indicate if or when supply may be made available in the area.
