Vol. 130 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - North Mayo Congestion.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware of the congestion that exists in the Glenhest Newport area of North Mayo; and, if so, what steps the Land Commission propose to take to remedy this situation.

I presume this question refers to the holdings on the Glenhest section of the Knox estate, which were striped and improved some years ago. Inquiries are being made and proceedings are in progress with a view to resuming some holdings in the area for the further enlargement of the rearranged holdings.

May I remind the Minister that at least two holdings have been sold recently in the Glenhest area? Would he consider acquiring those lands for the relief of congestion?

I have nothing that I think I could usefully add to the reply I have already given.
