Vol. 130 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - North Galway Bog Development.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that access to many turbary plots and turf banks in North Galway is rendered difficult and sometimes hazardous by the extremely bad condition of the roads leading there; and if, in the circumstances, he will have immediate and effective arrangements made for the repair and improvement of these roads.

Representations of this kind are made to me from time to time in respect of bogs not alone in North Galway but throughout the country generally; and within the limits of the funds provided by the Dáil for the purpose, improvement works are carried out in cases where the volume of turf production is commensurate with the cost of putting in order the road leading to the bog.

If the Deputy will submit to me particulars of any cases he has in mind, I shall have them investigated.
