It is estimated that the consumption of creamery butter, both home-produced and imported, in the quarters ended 30th June, 1951; 30th September, 1951; 31st December, 1951; and 31st March, 1952, was 187,000 cwt., 182,000 cwt., 192,000 cwt. and 189,000 cwt. respectively. No estimates of the quarterly consumption of farmers' butter are available, but the consumption in the calendar year, 1951, is provisionally estimated at 325,000 cwt.
Quarterly estimates of butter consumption for the year 1952-53 are not available.
