asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the area of land planted by the Forestry Division in County Wicklow in each of the years 1948, 1949, 1950 and 1951, and also if he will give an estimate of the area it is proposed to plant in 1952 and 1953 in that county.

The planting season extends to the end of March approximately in each year. The areas planted in Wicklow in the seasons stated were:—1947-48, 1,100 acres; 1948-49, 1,700 acres; 1949-50, 1,500 acres; 1950-51, 1,770 acres. During the year ended March, 1952, approximately 2,450 acres were planted in County Wicklow. The programme for 1953 has not yet been settled.
