Vol. 131 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Shankill Primary School.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state when work is likely to commence on the new national school at Shankill, County Dublin.

The Department has been in correspondence with the manager with a view to having a suitable site made available for a new school to replace the present Tillystown National School, Shankill, County Dublin. The manager is negotiating for the acquisition of a site but, as I informed the Deputy in reply to his previous question on the 5th December, 1951, there are certain legal and other matters to be settled before the plot can be acquired, and it is likely that the negotiations will be protracted.

I am unable, therefore, to say when it is likely that work will commence on the new building.

Can the Minister say if it is a fact that the Board of Works are now prepared to make a site available on their lands at Chantilly?

I have no information about the Board of Works being asked to make a site available, but I will look into it. I do not know of any application to the Board of Works.

I understood from a reply given earlier this week by the Parliamentary Secretary that the Board of Works were now prepared to make a site available on the lands which they own at Chantilly.

I am not aware that the Board of Works have been asked to make a site available on any lands which they own, but I will discover whether that is so or not.
