Vol. 132 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Western Bus Services.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will request Córas Iompair Éireann to provide a bus service from (a) Ballinrobe to Tuam and (b) Claremorris to Tuam as the present railway facilities for passenger traffice between these towns are entirely inadequate.

The responsibility for meeting the demand for transport facilities has been placed by the Transport Act, 1950, on the board of Córas Iompair Éireann. I would suggest that the Deputy might communicate direct with the board in the matter.

If I do so, is the Minister prepared to make a statement that he will back up such application as I make?

The number of similar questions which have been asked this year will convince the Deputy of the responsibility which the Minister would be undertaking if he agreed to support all these.
