Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Use of Sugar in Exported Goods.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the additional amount of money which will become available by the sale of sugar for use in exported goods at a price of 74/8 per cwt. which is in excess of the normal price operative after 5th July next of 56/- per cwt. and how it is proposed to utilise such surplus funds.

No additional money will become available from the sale of sugar for use in exported goods. The present price of 74/8 per cwt. for such sugar will remain unchanged.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the amount (in volume) of sugar which it is estimated will be used in exported goods in the period between 5th July, 1952, and 31st March, 1953.

It is estimated that the quantity of sugar which will be used in exported goods for the period 5th July, 1952, to 31st March, 1953, will be in the region of 20,000 tons.
