asked the Minister for Education if, in view of the claims made in Dáil Éireann on behalf of pensioned teachers, he will have the matter reviewed again.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pensioned Teachers.
I assume the Deputy refers to the claim made by teachers who retired on pension before the 1st January, 1950, that they should be awarded a retiring gratuity.
I would refer the Deputy to the replies which I have already given in the House to questions addressed to me on this matter: that the question of the award of a gratuity to teachers who retired before the 1st January, 1950, is under consideration by the Government.
