Vol. 133 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Maintenance of Water-Main (County Cork).

asked the Minister for Defence whether he will state if inquiries from the Cork County Council requesting information regarding the possibility of his Department being responsible for the maintenance of the water-main at Powder Mills, Ballincollig, County Cork, have been received in his Department; and, if so, whether he will indicate what action he proposes to take in connection with this matter.

Inquiries have been received from the Cork County Council regarding the question of responsibility for the maintenance of the water-main at Powder Mills, Ballincollig, County Cork. The position is being examined and the county council will be informed of the result as soon as possible.

Considering the urgency of the problem at this particular place, and also considering that the Department have admitted their liability in so far as putting the road in proper repair is concerned, I would ask the Minister to have the matter speeded up as much as possible owing to the dangerous condition in which the water-main is in that particular area.

As I informed the Deputy, the matter is actually under examination at the moment.
