Vol. 133 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry County Council Housing.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state if his Department received lay-out plans from Kerry County Council for the erection of a group of cottages at Dingle, together with an application for his approval of the purchase of land which has been offered voluntarily; and, if so, if he will state the date of receipt and the cause of the delay in giving the necessary approval.

A sketch lay-out plan for a scheme of 25 houses at Dingle, together with proposals for the acquisition of the site, were received from the Kerry County Council on 14th May, 1952, and were approved on the 15th of this month. There was no avoidable delay in the issue of a decision to the council in this matter.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state if the Kerry County Council submitted a tender to his Department for approval for the erection of 15 cottages at Fenit; and, if so, if he will state the date of receipt of the tender and the reason for the delay in giving approval.

I understand from the Kerry County Council that tenders for this scheme have been received by them and are under examination. Their proposal for the acceptance of a tender has not yet been submitted to my Department for approval.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state if the Kerry County Council submitted a tender to his Department for approval in connection with the erection of 12 cottages at Ballyseedy; and, if so, if he will state the date of receipt of the tender and the reason for delay in giving the necessary approval.

I understand from the Kerry County Council that tenders for this scheme have recently been received by them and are under examination. The council's proposal for the acceptance of a tender has not yet been submitted to my Department for approval.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state if proposals were submitted to his Department by the Kerry County Council for the erection of a scheme of houses at Abbeydorney; and, if so, if he will state the reasons for the delay in not advertising the scheme for tenders.

The delay in advertising the proposed housing scheme at Abbeydorney for tenders is due to difficulties which arose necessitating revision of the plans originally approved for the scheme. The scheme as now proposed is for six unserviced cottages and on the 9th instant the council submitted their proposals in respect of the type of house to be provided. Those proposals were approved on the 14th instant and the submission of a lay-out plan for the revised scheme is awaited.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state if his Department has received proposals from the Kerry County Council for the erection of cottages at Ardfert; and, if so, if he will now state when it is proposed to advertise the scheme for tenders.

A proposal for the acquisition of a site at Ardfert to accommodate 12 unserviced cottages was submitted to my Department by the Kerry County Council. The purchase price proposed was altogether excessive and the council have been advised to acquire a suitable alternative site. I am not in a position to indicate when the proposed scheme will be advertised for tenders.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state if his Department received a tender from Kerry County Council for the erection of 24 houses at Ballybunion for his approval; and, if so, if he will state the date of receipt of the tender and the cause of the delay in giving approval.

My Department has not yet received the Kerry County Council's proposal to accept a tender for this scheme. I understand from the council that tenders for the work have been received by them and are under examination.
