Vol. 133 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dunmore (Galway) Water Supply.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that the town of Dunmore, County Galway, has been deprived of its water supply upon more than one occasion recently, whereby the most serious inconvenience and loss have resulted; and, if so, if he will make immediate arrangements to ensure that appropriate steps, permanent in effect, are taken to provide that such a grave hardship will not recur.

I have no information regarding the state of affairs referred to by the Deputy.

As regards the latter part of the question, I would remind him that the provision and maintenance of water supplies is in all cases the responsibility of the local sanitary authority.

An inquiry in regard to the matter has been addressed to the local authority and the result will be conveyed to the Deputy in due course.
