Vol. 134 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Department of Agriculture Leaflets.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a revised bound volume of the Department's leaflets will be published to replace the 1937 edition.

Mr. Walsh

It is not proposed to publish a revised bound volume containing all the Department's leaflets. Arrangements are, however, being made for the publication of new issues of certain sectional volumes, which are at present out of print.

Will all the leaflets ultimately be available in some convenient form?

Mr. Walsh

Yes.

Can the Minister say when he expects they will be available?

Mr. Walsh

I could not tell the Deputy when they will be available, but as soon as possible.

Is none of them available at the moment?

Mr. Walsh

Some of them are.

In bound volumes?

Mr. Walsh

Two sections out of five are available at present. There are three sections out of print.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he will provide a leaflet on the breeding and feeding of sheep.

Mr. Walsh

The question of publishing a leaflet on the breeding and feeding of sheep is at present under consideration in my Department.

Is there not one in draft in the Department?

Mr. Walsh

There is one, but it does not deal with breeding. It deals with diseases.

There is one in draft.

Mr. Walsh

Not in relation to breeding.

There is one, and a very good one, in draft on the breeding, rearing and feeding of sheep, which, I think, awaits only the Minister's direction to be printed. Perhaps he would inquire about it. I think it was prepared by somebody at the request of the Department and was to be considered by the technical officers of the Department.

Mr. Walsh

Material has been collected for the purpose of publishing a leaflet.

I have read a copy of it. Would the Minister look it up?

He would have to go to his Department in order to do that, and he does not like going there.
