Vol. 134 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Temporary Nurses' Salaries.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware that nurses employed on a temporary basis by local authorities have not received the recent cost-of-living bonus awarded to permanent nurses and, if so, if he will have this anomaly remedied by issuing appropriate instructions to local authorities.

The recent cost-of-living bonus may be paid to temporary nurses employed by local authorities provided that their inclusive salary does not exceed the minimum of the salary scale approved for permanent staff nurses. This salary scale has been increased recently and any temporary nurse who is paid less than the minimum of the new scale may be granted an increase to bring her salary to the minimum.
