Vol. 134 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - American Experts' Expenses.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the total amount of money paid by the Government, including travelling expenses, for the team of American experts who were engaged to advise on the land rehabilitation project.

It is assumed that the Deputy refers to the E.C.A. technical assistance project relating to the manufacture and provision of land drainage pipes. Under this project, three American experts visited this country in July, 1951.

The total amount paid by way of fees and transportation charges in the United States of America was $8,070. The total amount paid by way of travelling and subsistence expenses, including the cost of air travel between the United States of America and Ireland, was £1,124. The total cost, including dollar cost, was recouped from the funds made available by way of grant from the United States Government.
