Vol. 134 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Workers' Wages.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the reason for the delay in giving sanction to the proposal by the Kerry County Council granting an increase of 10/- per week to road workers from 1st July last.

My Department has been in correspondence with the local authority about this proposal and a further communication promised by the local authority on 31st October, 1952, is awaited.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he received an application from the manager of the Kildare County Council for sanction for an increase in wages to road workers in County Kildare, and if he will state when the proposal was received, when sanction was conveyed to the county manager, and what weekly increase has been sanctioned.

A proposal to increase the wages of the road workers of Kildare County Council was received in my Department on 5th August, 1952. The proposal is being considered in conjunction with other similar proposals.

Can the Minister say when it is likely a decision will be communicated by the county council?

I am afraid I could not say.
