Vol. 134 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clohamon (County Wexford) Telephone Facilities.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will have a kiosk installed in the post office at Clohamon, County Wexford, as the telephone is situated in a business premises and it is impossible for those who wish to avail of the public telephone to carry out their calls in comfort and privacy.

The use being made of the public telephone at Clohamon Post Office is not sufficient to warrant the provision of the existing standard type of silence cabinet which is relatively costly. The question of designing less expensive cabinets for offices which do not qualify for the standard type is being examined.

Is it not very unusual to have a post office without having a kiosk installed?

There are a great number of telephone call offices where there are no silence cabinets and the matter is being examined at the present time.
