Vol. 134 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Value of Tourist Industry.

asked the Taoiseach whether there has been any, and if so what, estimate of the "breakdown" value of the tourist industry in 1951 between the amount spent (a) in shops; (b) in restaurants, hotels and holiday camps; (c) in garages; (d) for entertainment and recreation and (e) on internal rail and air travel.

It is not possible to furnish separately the expenditure by tourists in this country in 1951 under the headings specified. Though firm figures cannot be given, it is believed that about one-half of the gross tourist expenditure was on food, drink, tobacco, hotel and restaurant services.
