asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state the amount paid by national health insurance funds to each health authority during the year ending 31st March, 1952, for the maintenance and treatment of insured persons.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - National Health Insurance Funds.
I assume the Deputy's question relates to payments made by my Department by way of hospital benefit for insured persons who were patients in hospitals provided and maintained by public assistance authorities. As the information is not available for the year ended 31st March, 1952, I am giving, instead, details for the year ended 31st December, 1951. Being in the form of a tabular statement I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to have the statement included in the Official Report. It should be noted that the payments by my Department are made directly to the hospitals in which the insured persons were maintained and treated. The amount shown in the statement in respect of each authority is, therefore, the aggregate of the amounts paid in the period to the hospitals under the control of that authority.
