Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Military Service Pensions (County Kildare).

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the number of applications received from persons resident in County Kildare for pensions under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1949; the number of cases in which pensions were (a) granted, and (b) refused, and the total annual cost of the pensions granted.

The information requested by the Deputy is as follows:—

The number of applications received from persons resident in County Kildare for pensions under the Military Service Pensions (Amendment) Act, 1949, is 235. Of this number, decisions have been reached by the Referee or by the board of assessors on 88 cases as follows:— Affirmative reports, 8; negative reports, 80. The total annual cost of the eight pensions awarded is £217 12s. 8d.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the names of persons resident in County Kildare who were granted pensions under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1949, and the amount of the pension in each case.

The required list is being compiled. I shall have it forwarded to the Deputy when available.
