Vol. 135 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rossbeigh Water Supply Scheme.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if the directors of An Bord Fáilte have any proposals to contribute under the Tourist Traffic Act, 1952, to the cost of the extension of the water supply scheme to the tourist centre at Rossbeigh, County Kerry.

The provision of a public water supply is the responsibility of the local sanitary authority. There is provision for a State contribution through the Department of Local Government towards the cost of water supply schemes and I do not think it would be appropriate that An Bord Fáilte should also be asked to contribute. It was not the intention that the funds which may be made available to An Bord Fáilte under the Tourist Traffic Act, 1952, should be so utilised.
