Vol. 135 No. 4

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: No. 2, No. 8, No. 10, and in No. 10, Vote 6. Private Deputies' Business at 9 o'clock.

When does the Minister intend to introduce the Bill for the purpose of paying the Great Northern shareholders which he promised to introduce immediately after the Summer Recess?

I am afraid I cannot give the Deputy the date.

Will it be introduced next week?

Will it not be introduced before the Recess?

I do not think so.

In view of the fact that this delay has taken place in introducing the Bill, will the Tánaiste consider the question of paying interest to the holders of stock?

Surely that matter does not arise on the Order of Business.

Can the Tánaiste say at this stage on what date after the Christmas Recess the House will reassemble.

I cannot give the date yet. I will try to have the date next week.

I would like to raise on the Adjournment the answer given by the Minister for Local Government to my question on the 19th November in relation to an increase in rent for corporation houses. I gave notice.

On the Order of Business, does the Tánaiste propose to make arrangements for the taking of a vote on the motions annulling the recent Orders permitting increases in the price of bread and flour to-day? I understand the time expires to-day. If the discussion on the Supplies and Services Bill does not terminate to-day I take it provision will be made for taking a decision on these motions to-day.

If the Bill does not terminate to-day we are in a bit of a mess anyway.

The Minister can have no hope that discussion on the Bill will terminate to-day. As Deputy MacBride has said, to-day is the last day for taking a vote on the motions standing in his name. Perhaps it could be arranged that at some particular time to-day a vote would be taken without prejudice to the continuation of the debate proper.

I do not think the Deputy is correct in saying that to-day is the last day.

I think the Tánaiste stated last week to-day would be the last day.

No, I think I said it was the 17th day. I understand you have until Friday, but I will check that.

When will No. 13 be taken?

If it is non-controversial we might get it next week.

I do not think it will be controversial.
