As no separate heading for Welsh anthracite exists in the official import list the information required is not available. The imports of anthracite coal from Great Britain in the periods in question were 41,653 tons in 1951, 55,722 tons in 1952 and 2,696 tons in January 1953. It is understood that the great bulk of these imports were from the Welsh coalfields.
Has the Minister at his disposal any information concerning the Castlecomer and Wolfhill coal mines?
That is a separate question. This question deals with Welsh anthracite.
A number of men in those mines have been on short time and half time and the management have informed the men's union that it is as a result of the heavy imports of anthracite.

Is the Minister aware that prices are competitive? That is the most essential point. When I asked a question before I found that the Irish coal was dearer than the Welsh coal landed at Cork.
