Vol. 136 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bog Development.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that about two years ago a number of tenants were allotted turbary rights at Tooreengarriv and Barna, near Scartaglin, County Kerry, but are unable to use the plots because the Land Commission has failed to construct a road and fully develop the turbary area; and, if so, whether he will state what action it is proposed to take in the matter.

The Land Commission have not allotted any turbary nor have they any turbary on hands in these townlands.

asked the Minister for Lands if it is proposed to make bog available to tenants and landowners in the surrounding areas this season from the bogs of Ballyline West and Tullamore.

A scheme of allotment cannot be prepared until these bogs have been developed. Meanwhile seasonal lettings will be made as far as possible.

asked the Ministerfor Lands if he will make available funds for the repair of the road leading to the turbary at Cushaling, Rathangan, County Kildare, from the Rathangan-Edenderry road.

The Land Commission propose to repair this road.

I will try to find out. A substantial sum of money has been sanctioned in any case for road work on the estate.

Will the Minister try to expedite it as much as possible?
