asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state, in regard to the Irish Insurance Association, (a) the date of its formation, (b) what are its functions, (c) the nature of its membership and (d) the names of its officers.

I was informed on the 21st August, 1952, that the Irish Insurance Association had recently been formed and that the membership comprised eight home-controlled Irish insurance companies. It was stated on behalf of the association that they would be available to consult and co-operate with my Department on appropriate matters arising from time to time and that the formation of the association would facilitate representation of this country at international conferences of insurance organisations.The names of the officers of the association were conveyed to me at the same time but I do not think it would be appropriate to furnish these names in reply to a question in Dáil Éireann.
