asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether a site has been, or is about to be, acquired for the proposed new central sorting office for Dublin, and when the finalities of the acquisition are likely to be completed.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Central Sorting Office Proposal.
I am hopeful of being able to complete arrangements for the acquisition of a site for the erection of a new central sorting office for Dublin within the next few weeks. The contract with the vendors has already been signed on my behalf.
Am I to take it that up to the present no site has, in fact, been acquired for this office?
The negotiations have taken a very long time to complete. The need for the new central sorting office will be very apparent to the Deputy, and I am glad these long delays are now at an end.
Arising further out of the Minister's reply, I am aware of the need, and that is the purpose of the question. The need has been so great for such a long time that I am asking the Minister has a site been selected and when was it selected?
If the Deputy will put down a question I will give exact information. It goes back a very long period.
We have a site now?
We are about to have one.
