asked the Taoiseach if he will state (a) the amount of asbestos slates and roofing tiles imported during each of the years 1951 and 1952 and to the latest date in 1953; (b) the amount of Dutch land drainage pipes imported during these years, and (c) the amount of duty, if any, paid on these imported articles.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Imports of Drainage Pipes and Tiles.
I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement giving the required information for the imports of (a) asbestos slates from all countries and (b) land drainage pipes of Netherland origin. The figures for asbestos roofing tiles are not available as the Official Import List does not distinguish this item separately and an investigation has shown that sufficient information is not available on the basic import documents to enable a separate figure to be extracted. No duty was paid on these articles during the period in question.
Following is the statement:—
IMPORTS OF Asbestos slates and Dutch land drainage pipes in each year 1951 and 1952 and in January—March, 1953.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that, in so far as roofing material is concerned, there are adequate supplies of such material available in the country at present?
