asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the date his Department received a proposal from the Tralee Urban Council for the raising of a loan for the erection of protecting walls in front of the houses recently erected at St. Brendan's Park, and if he will indicate the cause of the delay in giving sanction.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tralee Housing Loan.
An inquiry as to whether I would be prepared to sanction a loan for this work and, if so, as to the terms thereof was received in the Department on the 18th November last. It was subsequently ascertained by telephone that the council wished to include the cost in a supplementary loan that will be required to defray the balance of the cost of the housing scheme. Correspondence ensued on the total amount of the supplementary loan involved and in the meantime no definite decision that the cost of fencing would be allowed to be included was given. While, therefore, there has been an omission to give a definite decision on this point, which I will have remedied forthwith, there has been no delay in the matter of sanction to a loan as sanction has not yet been sought to the full amount required. No plans or specification of the fencing work have yet been submitted.
