Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Air Corps Accidents.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state how many accidents (a) involving loss of life; (b) resulting in personal injuries and (c) causing damage to aircraft have occurred in the Air Corps in the last three years.

The particulars required are as follows:—(a) Two accidents involving loss of life; (b) no accident otherwise, resulting in personal injuries; and (c) 12 accidents, including the two mentioned at (a), causing damage to aircraft.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is in a position to make any statement as to the cause of the accident which occurred to an Air Corps plane involving the death of ayoung officer and if it is proposed to hold an inquiry.

I am not in a position to make any statement as to the cause of the regrettable accident in question.

The accident will be investigated by a court of inquiry, as is the practice in the case of any accident in which an Army aircraft is involved.
