Vol. 142 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Valentia Island Road Damage.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that the accommodation road leading from the main road at Corabeg, Valentia Island, north, to Mr. Joseph McCarthy's house, as well as the branch road to the strand and boat-yard, were damaged by the recent floods; and, if so, whether he will have the matter examined and a grant allocated for the repair of roads in question.

We have a number of proposals for road works in the townland of Corabeg, Valentia Island, but it is not possible to identify the work. We have a report on a road commencing at John McCarthy's house and leading south to the foreshore, with a branch to Michael O'Shea's house and a boat-yard. No recent representations have been received in respect of the latter proposal.

I shall arrange to have the matter investigated by our local officer and, when his report is available, the case will be considered on its merits within the limit of the funds made available to me for such works.
