Vol. 143 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Central Bank Report.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will ascertain from the Central Bank of Ireland in regard to its annual report for the year ending 31st March, 1953, published by the Stationery Office, why Table No. VII, page 32, while showing the liabilities and assets in respect of the aggregate banking return of the Associated Bank gives these figures as within the State under different headings but only gives aggregate figures in respect of these liabilities and assets outside the State against the heading Elsewhere; and, further, if he is aware that these details, in respect of assets and liabilities elsewhere, are given in the privately circulated Quarterly Return of the Central Bank; and, if so, if he will direct that body or the Stationery Office to have available on request or in future purchasable reports furnishing the details which are omitted.

The form of the report furnished by the Central Bank under statute is a matter exclusively for the bank. As regards the second part ofthe Deputy's question, it is a fact that the Quarterly Statistical Bulletinof the Central Bank contains the details mentioned by the Deputy. They are reproduced quarterly in theIrish Trade Journal, published by the Stationery Office. The bulletin is available in the Oireachtas Library and is obtainable free of charge by interested parties on application to the Central Bank. Accordingly, the last part of the Deputy's question does not arise.
