Vol. 143 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Radio Éireann Broadcasts.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he has given consideration to having the Rosary broadcast each evening by Radio Éireann; and, if so, if he will state what decision he has reached.

Since the foundation of Radio Éireann the successive Directors of Broadcasting have had the most cordial relations with all ecclesiastical authorities and bearing this in mind I would not dream of interfering with the decision of the director in regard to the matter referred to by the Deputy.

The Director of Broadcasting would give serious consideration to any representations made by the ecclesiastical authorities and he would not initiate the broadcasting of the Rosary without their approval. The Church authorities have not made any pronouncement regarding the broadcasting of the Rosary from Radio Éireann.
