Vol. 145 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Erection of Factory.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state why he sanctioned the erection of a factory by a person at Mount Merrion and how many bays the proposed factory as sanctioned by him had; and, further, what steps he now proposes to take in view of the erection by the owner of two additional bays not sanctioned by him.

andMr. H.P. Dockrell asked the Minister for Local Government if permission has been granted for the erection of a factory or workshop at Foster Avenue, Blackrock; if he is aware of the opposition to this proposal; and, if so, if he will reconsider the matter.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to reply to Questions Nos. 73 and 74 together.

Permission for the completion of three structures as a factory was given by me, on appeal by Dr. J.B. Ralph, by Order dated the 11th October, 1951. Before making the Order, I was satisfied that the giving of permission would not result in any injury to the amenities of the area.

If the developer, in carrying out the work, exceeds the permission given to him, it is a matter for the local planning authority to consider what further steps should be taken. I understand that the planning authority did in fact make an order on the 26th instant, prohibiting Dr. Ralph from carrying out any work on a factory at Foster Avenue other than the factory building permitted by my Order of the 11th October, 1951.
