Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork and Kerry Land Acquisition.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring the holding of Mr. Patrick Cuddigan, Monagura, Shanagarry, Midleton, County Cork, which is at present offered for sale, with a view to the relief of congestion in the area; and, if so, with what result.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring for division the estate, consisting of some 360 acres, of the late Charles Creed, Cloyne, County Cork, which is at present offered for sale; and, if so, with what result.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to deal with Questions Nos. 23 and 24 together. The Land Commission have no proceedings for the acquisition of these lands but they are having inquiries made about them.

It is all right so long as you make the inquiries.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring land in the Dingle area or in any other area in North Kerry; and, if so, with what result.

In the Dingle Peninsula the Land Commission have on hands five estates and holdings comprising 222 acres, and proceedings are in progress or are contemplated for the acquisition of three estates and holdings comprising 163 acres.

In the remainder of North Kerry the corresponding figures are ten units comprising 437 acres on hands and 11 units comprising 919 acres in respect of which proceedings are in progress or are contemplated.
