Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Longford: Land Commission Data.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the number of holdings in County Longford acquired by the Land Commission (a) for allotment on a residential basis, and (b) for division among uneconomic holders, during each of the years 1947 to 1954, inclusive.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the number of holdings in County Longford rearranged by the Land Commission during each of the years 1947 to 1954, inclusive.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the number of loans advanced by the Land Commission to applicants in County Longford in respect of the erection of new houses during each of the years 1947 to 1954, inclusive.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the number of houses in County Longford demolished during each of the years 1947 to 1954, inclusive.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the number of uneconomic holders migrated from County Longford during each of the years 1947 to 1954, inclusive.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the number of holdings in County Longford resumed by the Land Commission during each of the years 1947 to 1954, inclusive.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to deal with Questions Nos. 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 together.

I am glad to be able to report that land purchase has been completed in County Longford; the final vesting of all tenanted holdings in the county has been accomplished. As regards untenanted land the Land Commission, between the 1st April, 1947 and 31st March, 1954, allotted six estates and holdings and in so doing created two residential holdings and enlarged 79 uneconomic holdings. A statement showing these allotments year by year will, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, be circulated with the Official Report.

In the same period no rearrangements were effected.

Advances towards the cost of erecting new houses were as follows:—

No houses were demolished.

One uneconomic holder was migrated out of the county during the period, his exchange being effected in the year 1950-51.

No holdings were resumed between the dates mentioned but two estates comprising 199 acres were acquired and nine holdings comprising 125 acres were surrendered to the Land Commission by way of exchange.
