Vol. 147 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Forestry Employment.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that the number of men employed on afforestation schemes in South Kerry is small, and, if so, if he will take steps to have additional men employed at an early date.

There are just short of 100 men employed at the South Kerry forests at present and the number is slightly higher than at this time last year. There is no development in prospect which would warrant any large-scale increase in employment but the number employed in forestry in South Kerry and elsewhere will rise with the planned expansion of afforestation.
