asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that at a recent meeting of the Kerry County Council a resolution was passed requesting his Department to allocate a grant for the reconstruction and widening of the bridges at Blennerville, Annascaul, Kilflynn and Lahern, and, if so, if he will state if such a grant will be made available to the council in the near future to carry out this much needed work.

The resolution referred to by the Deputy was recently received in the Department. All the road grants available for the present year have already been notified to the council and have been applied by the council to particular works. As regards the application of such a grant to any of the work mentioned in the forthcoming financial year, it will be a matter for the council in the first instance to indicate the priorities from the viewpoint of urgency which should apply to such works.
