asked the Minister for Lands whether he has under consideration a proposal to grant Church holidays with pay to forestry workers employed by his Department, and, if so, what is the present position in the matter.
I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 46 and 47 together.
The Department is at present examining representations made to it urging the grant to forestry workers of Church holidays with pay in addition to public holidays, but no indication can be given at this stage as to what the decision in the matter will be.
Is the Minister aware that officials of his Department discussed this matter with the trade union concerned over three months ago? Surely there has been enough time in the meantime to have reached a decision?
I do not think there will be much further delay.
