I move:—
That a supplementary sum not exceeding £300 be granted to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1955, for the Salaries and Expenses of the National Gallery, including a Grant-in-Aid.
The sum required is a very small one. The estimating in regard to this Vote is so accurate that, when it became necessary to appoint a shorthand typist to assist in the work of the National Gallery, there just was not any money left in the Estimate on which virement could be exercised and so it became necessary to ask the Dáil for a Supplementary Estimate for a sum sufficient to defray the cost of this new service.
