Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cost of Local Authority Machinery.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state, in respect of the Wexford, Wicklow, Carlow and Kildare County Councils, respectively (a) the total expenditure on machinery in the period April, 1949 to September, 1955, (b) the amount of such expenditure raised by loan, and (c) whether the repayments on such loans are met from the road estimate of the county council.

The information is not available in my Department. The four local authorities concerned will be requested to compile the figures and send them to the Deputy.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the amount paid in the past 12 months to the Eddison Plant Hire Company, Dorchester, England, for road-making machinery for local authorities throughout the country; further, why it was not found possible to place such orders with an Irish firm.

The information sought by the Deputy is not available in the Department.
